Future Plans (2026–2030 Horizon)
1. Water Conservation & “Save The Water” Campaigns
Expand rainwater harvesting, farm ponds, check dams, watershed structures, and groundwater recharge in Shevgaon and nearby talukas. Integrate community-led Jal Abhiyan models and link with government schemes (e.g., Maharashtra’s water conservation programs or MGNREGA convergence). Target: Achieve water-positive villages and demonstrate measurable increase in irrigated area or water table levels.
2. Tree Plantation & Biodiversity (“Save The Tree / Save The Earth”)
Large-scale native tree plantations, agroforestry on farmlands, and community-managed green belts. Launch annual “Vasundhara Vruksha Abhiyan” drives involving schools, SHGs, and youth. Measure impact through carbon sequestration estimates or green cover increase. Combine with environmental education in rural schools.
3. Sustainable Agriculture & Livelihoods
Promote organic/natural farming, millets, drought-resistant crops, and farmer producer groups (FPOs). Introduce value addition (e.g., processing of local produce) and market linkages for better incomes. Skill training in agri-entrepreneurship for youth and women to create on-farm and off-farm opportunities.
4. Health & Nutrition Integration
Community health camps, nutrition gardens (kitchen gardens linked to “Save The Earth”), awareness on water-borne diseases, and preventive healthcare. Tie nutrition security directly to sustainable agriculture.
5. Education for Sustainability
School programs on environmental awareness, climate education, and life skills. Develop model “Green Schools” that demonstrate rainwater harvesting, tree adoption, and waste management.
6. Disaster Resilience & Climate Adaptation
Given Ahmednagar’s vulnerability to drought, build community capacity through early warning, training, and resilient infrastructure. Align with state climate action plans.
7. Women & Community Empowerment
Strengthen Self-Help Groups (SHGs) for livelihood and conservation activities. Focus on inclusive decision-making for equitable rural & urban society.
